Build Environment was founded with a simple belief: building a second home in India should not feel like the hardest project of your life. While the landscapes of the Sahyadris and the Deccan belt offer incredible opportunities for nature-connected homes, the process of building them has long been fragmented, opaque, and difficult to navigate.
Traditionally, buyers must coordinate between architects, contractors, and property managers, often absorbing the gaps between them. Build Environment gives owners one accountable team instead. We design climate-responsive homes tailored to the Sahyadri landscape, then manage their construction on the owner's behalf through vetted local contractors, with an itemised estimate, material approvals and stage-wise payments against checked work.
By combining site-first design, careful construction management and transparent processes supported by technology — including a client app for remote updates — Build Environment helps families from Pune, Mumbai and Nashik build second homes in the Sahyadris.

Ankit Take
Ankit leads business and product vision at Build Environment. A graduate of IIT Madras, he brings strong systems thinking, strategic clarity, and a customer-first approach to problem solving.
Before co-founding, he spent several years building and scaling SaaS products across product strategy, user experience, and growth, developing a deep ability to simplify complex processes into reliable systems.
At Build Environment, he applies this thinking to the construction industry — bringing clarity, predictability, and transparency to a space often defined by ambiguity.
Together with the design-led approach of the company, Ankit's systems-driven perspective helps shape homes not just as physical structures, but as well-managed, thoughtfully delivered experiences.

Suraj Thorat
Suraj trained at Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture, where his thesis on the Aarey Forest corridor was recognised and exhibited internationally. He began his career at Vo Trong Nghia Architects, Vietnam known for climate-responsive design, and later worked with Gaurav Roy Choudhury Architects and SJK Architects.
Across mid-premium projects, he identified a recurring gap — strong design intent often lost during execution due to misalignment and poor coordination.
To address this, he co-founded Build Environment. Today, Suraj leads design and execution, combining ecological sensitivity, global exposure, and hands-on experience to create thoughtfully built, context-driven second homes aligned with long-term value.
